Summer 2026: Love of Literature virtual reading program for Black-identifying students

Exciting opportunity for Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board families

The Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) is proud to offer full funding for Black-identifying students to participate in the Love of Literature Book Club this summer—at no cost to families! This enriching virtual program is open to Black-identifying students ages 7 to 18.

Program overview

Hosted by the Love of Literature Foundation Canada, a non-profit committed to empowering Black youth through culturally relevant literature, this book club provides a safe and inspiring space to:

  • Explore Black-focused stories and themes

  • Build reading confidence and literacy skills

  • Engage with Black facilitators who lead with care and experience​
  • Connect with peers in a supportive environment

Program details

Dates: July 4 to August 15, 2026

Time: 11:00 am – 12:15 pm (Eastern Time)

Location: Online via Zoom. All registered participants will receive the link in advance.  

Materials: All books and reading resources will be shipped directly to registered participants.
